La littérature amérindienne du Québec propose un renversement de perspective: désormais, l'Amérindien n'est plus confiné dans un statut d'Autre, il est le sujet énonçant de sa propre situation. Dans ce contexte, comment se dessine la figure du Blanc dans les oeuvres amérindiennes du Québec? En se basant sur les notions d'identité et d'altérité, mais aussi sur les concepts de contrediscours, d'hybridité et de manichéisme issus des théories postcoloniales, ce mémoire présente une analyse textuelle de la figure du Blanc dans quatre oeuvres amérindiennes du Québec: Le bras coupé (1976), de Bernard Assiniwi, Carnet de voyage: le Vieux-Comptoir de la baie James (1982) de Michel Noël, Nipishish (2004), de Noël, et La saga des Béothuks (1996). À partir de la grille d'analyse textuelle de l'altérité de Janet Paterson (2004), trois lieux d'analyse seront principalement observés: l'énonciation, les profils sémantiques et les stratégies rhétoriques. L'analyse révèle que les quatre oeuvres étudiées, de par le renversement de point de vue qu'elles opèrent, posent l'identité amérindienne comme cadre de référence du texte, notamment par le biais de l'énonciation et de comparaisons à la nature. Ainsi, les Blancs se voient l'objet du dispositif textuel d'altérisation. Globalement, il ressort une construction textuelle des personnages Blancs fort négative, parfois caricaturale. En tant que détenteurs du pouvoir colonial, les anglophones se voient particulièrement diabolisés, alors que d'autres personnages Blancs victimes d'exclusion (Canadiens français, pauvres, esclaves), bénéficient à l'occasion de profils plus positifs. Des procédés d'opposition entre la vie traditionnelle et la vie moderne, ou encore entre la culture amérindienne et la culture blanche, mettent en relief le manichéisme qui structurent la mécanique identitaire, tout en dévalorisant les personnages Blancs. L'ironie, le discours du"paradis perdu" et la contestation des discours dominants participent également à délégitimer les personnages Blancs et marquent la postcolonialité des oeuvres étudiées.
