Cette étude exploratoire cherche à documenter la conscience historique de personnes issues de communautés innues et attikameks, à offrir une réflexion critique quant aux modèles de conscience historique existants en didactique de l’histoire, mais aussi à réfléchir aux limites des programmes d’histoire tels que conçus par le ministère de l’Éducation du Québec. Pour ce faire, lors du printemps 2018, nous avons effectué une série d’entretiens non directifs auprès de neuf répondants innus et attikameks, le tout grâce à l’aide du centre Nikanité et du Centre d’amitié autochtone du Saguenay. Cette étude permet de constater que bien des répondants ne se reconnaissent pas dans le Programme de formation de l’école québécoise (PFEQ) sur le plan notionnel, mais aussi sur le plan du paradigme didactique dans lequel celui-ci s’inscrit. En matière de conscience historique, les résultats semblent indiquer que les grilles d’analyse existantes nécessitent des ajustements afin de prendre en compte les spécificités culturelles du rapport au passé chez les Premières Nations. Finalement, le projet pose la question de la décolonisation des savoirs, un passage obligé si le Québec souhaite développer des programmes à même de contribuer au processus de dialogue et de réparation avec les Premières Nations.
