Abstract
A raíz de la Guerra civil española, numerosos escritores e intelectuales se vieron obligados a exiliarse en Francia. El exilio conlleva la adaptación forzosa a un nuevo contexto con los consiguientes conflictos de tipo identitario, que se manifiestan en una compleja dualidad tanto cultural como lingüística. La obra de Jacques Folch-Ribas, arquitecto, urbanista y novelista nacido en Barcelona en 1928, exiliado en Francia en 1939, y finalmente instalado en Quebec desde 1956, muestra el recorrido identitario de un escritor que nunca volvió a residir en España y que se (re)construyó una nueva identidad híbrida, múltiple y única al mismo tiempo, sin lograr, sin embargo, liberarse jamás del peso originario de la aflicción del exilio. De la herida originaria provocada por el exilio a la memoria nostálgica del paraíso perdido de la infancia, pasando por la celebración de la identidad del país de acogida, la obra de Folch-Ribas es el reflejo de su propio recorrido identitario. La escritura se constituye en lugar de memoria, de cuestionamiento, de anamnesis y de reconstrucción identitaria.
