Abstract
Arahal es una localidad sevillana en la que el olivar ha tomado una importancia \nhistórica, hasta tal punto que la vida social del pueblo gira en torno a la actividad \nagrícola de la recogida de aceitunas, llegando a ser el eje principal de su economía y \ndefiniendo muchos de los aspectos socioculturales de la población. Hacemos un \nrepaso a las actividades que componen su cultura del olivar y las dimensiones \nculturales y simbólicas que adopta en la localidad reflejándose en el patrimonio \netnológico. Entre los elementos más importante podemos destacar los oficios \ntradicionales y artesanías relacionadas con la producción, la organización del trabajo \nagrícola, sus festejos, su paisaje cultural, la cultura alimentaria y la gastronomía, y la \nherencia en la arquitectura de las haciendas agrícolas. Aportamos también una \nintroducción al origen histórico de la cultura del olivar, y cerramos el ciclo con una \nreflexión sobre las transformaciones actuales del sector en la globalización y sus \nrepercusiones en el patrimonio cultural.
