[Resumen] La innovación social consiste en procurar soluciones novedosas a complejos problemas de la sociedad actual, incluidos los retos de sostenibilidad. Los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) 2 (Hambre cero), 3 (Salud y bienestar) y 12 (Producción y consumo responsables) confluyen en el desafío de transformar la gobernanza de los sistemas alimentarios para garantizar su seguridad y sostenibilidad. Se presenta una iniciativa innovadora (colaborativa e integradora) en este ámbito, liderada por la fundación filantrópica privada J.W. McConnell. Se contextualizan el problema del acceso a alimentos saludables y el movimiento social cristalizado en la alianza Food Secure Canada para conseguir sistemas alimentarios sostenibles en Canadá. Dentro de la cadena de suministro institucional destaca el programa “Nourish” (“Nutrir”), dedicado a transformar la gobernanza alimentaria en el sector sanitario a través de: 1) la comprensión de la conexión entre alimentación, salud y curación; y 2) la construcción de una comunidad nacional de innovadores que mejoren los menús e implanten la compra sostenible.
