Í Kambódíu er að hafa orðið margar breytingar, bæði náttúrufarslegar og menningarlegar sem verður fjallað um í þessari ritgerð. Ég mun leitast við að að sýna fram á að það er margt sem betur má fara í samfélagslegri uppbyggingu Kambódíu. Saga Kambódíu verður lauslega rekin frá tímum Angkor veldisins á 9undu öld þar til í dag. Hér verður fjallað um landtökur, með því er átt við þegar fátækum er bókstaflega mokað út af landi sem það hefur búsetu á af ríkum fyrirtækjum, innlendum og erlendum í miklu samstarfi við yfirvöld í Kambódíu. Fjallað verður um þau áhrif sem slíkar landtökur hafa á íbúa landsins sem og á náttúruna. Litið verður til borgar og sveita og nokkur mismunandi verkefni sem eru í gangi í dag, árið 2012, verða skoðuð. \n\tVinnsla á ritgerðinni hófst óbeint árið 2008 þegar ég fluttist sjálf til Kambódíu og vann á einu svæðanna sem hér er fjallað um. Ég hef séð og upplifað margt á þeim fjórum árum sem ég dvaldi í Phnom Penh, höfuðborg Kambódíu, og nota ég það, ásamt formlegum heimildum úr fræðiritum, dagblöðum og heimildarmyndum, sem heimild.
