Abstract
Cette étude avait pour but d'identifier les déterminants de la marche chez des autochtones âgés entre 30 et 50 ans résidant dans trois villages autochtones du Québec. La théorie du comportement planifié de Ajzen (1988) a servi de cadre théorique. Des 150 questionnaires auto administrés distribués dans les casiers postaux des participants, 46 ont pu être considérés pour l'étude. La moyenne d'âge des participants est de 39 ans (± 5,5). La régression logistique indique que le statut diabétique est-la variable contribuant le plus à prédire l'intention de marcher pour faire de l'exercice. Suivent le comportement antérieur puis l'attitude face à la marche et la perception de contrôle. Cette étude permet de mieux comprendre les facteurs sous-jacents à l'adoption d'un comportement favorable à la santé. Les résultats seront utiles pour mettre en place des stratégies pour améliorer la motivation des membres des communautés autochtones à pratiquer la marche régulièrement.
