Cílem této práce je seznámit čtenáře s východisky a stěžejními argumenty feministické reflexe islámu. Práce se tedy zabývá otázkou interpretace islámských náboženských textů (zejména Koránu) z pohledu feministického diskurzu. Autorka se soustředí na témata spjatá s otázkou postavení ženy v muslimské společnosti a pracuje s díly muslimských (feministických) autorek, které se pokoušejí obhajovat postavení ženy na Blízkém východě z pozice islámu.\nPráce je rozčleněna do tří hlavních kapitol a několika podkapitol. První část nabízí teoretický úvod do zkoumané problematiky s důrazem na vyjasnění základních pojmů. Další kapitola se již věnuje samotnému rozboru jednotlivých témat z pohledu vybraných myslitelek. Poslední kapitola nabízí stručný pohled na současnou situaci muslimek ve společnosti zejména s ohledem na proces Arabského jara a na vztah západního (sekulárního) feminismu k tomu islámskému a zamýšlí se nad možnostmi, zda a jak feministická exegeze pomohla (či může pomoci) ke zlepšení postavení žen.
