La Machine dodue, récit présenté en première partie, relate les aventures d'Antonin Antonyme, citoyen gris d'une métropole improbable et étouffante où le naturel et l'artificiel se confondent, où l'humain est déshumanisé et la machine humanisé. Devenu invisible d'inexplicable façon, Antonin en viendra peu à peu à se révolter contre la démesure du monde qui l'accueille, jusqu'à le mettre en péril. \n \nLa seconde partie du mémoire s'attache à démontrer l'appartenance de La Machine dodue à une potentielle littérature absurde, l'absurde étant défini non pas comme une catégorie mais comme une coloration du texte dans lequel est exploité le non-sens, et ce, à divers degrés. Ce non-sens apparaîtrait soit dans l'énoncé ou renonciation du texte à des fins ludiques ou dans son code, pour illustrer un thème philosophique. L'étude de la coloration permet de mettre en lumière les mécanismes de l'absurde en littérature, présent dans un vaste corpus, et son rapport au langage. Par l'évaluation de mises en abyme incluses dans La Machine dodue et actives sur les trois mêmes niveaux du texte (énoncé, énonciation et code), des relations sont ensuite établies entre la théorie de l'absurde développée et le récit, qui devient alors illustration probante de cette théorie. \n
