Abstract
Cet essai cherche à identifier, à travers les études portant sur le chômage, les jeunes sans-emploi et les réseaux de solidarité, les meilleures stratégies méthodologiques utilisées pour contourner la difficulté d'un objet de recherche informel. L'objectif de cet exercice est donc double. Tout d'abord, identifier et définir les divers types de réseaux sociaux afin de mieux situer les réseaux de jeunes chômeurs. Ensuite, explorer les multiples méthodes d'analyse applicables à cet objet de recherche ainsi que leurs conséquences sur la nature des informations qu'il est possible de recueillir. Ce texte s'inscrit en réponse à l'une des deux questions de synthèse, posée par madame Shirley Roy, professeure au département de sociologie de l'Université du Québec à Montréal, comme exigence partielle du doctorat en sociologie. Je tiens à la remercier pour le support qu'elle m'a fourni en préparation et durant la rédaction de ce texte.
