Abstract
Cette recherche représente l’une des premières études du Québec qui donne la parole aux intervenantes de première ligne dans le domaine de l’éducation à l’enfance, les éducatrices et les responsables de service de garde (RSG). Il s’agit d’une étude menée par entrevues semi-structurées auprès de travailleuses de la petite enfance (N=18), qui se sont prononcées sur les différents aspects qui composent leur travail au quotidien. En toile de fond, la théorie de la structuration et celle de la modernité avancée de Giddens nous ont orientée tout au long de l’élaboration de ce mémoire. Également, trois concepts clés ont guidé l’analyse thématique : le rapport au travail (homo faber), le cadre social qui englobe celui-ci (homo sociologicus) et sa dimension instrumentale (homo oeconomicus) (Paugam, 2000). Ainsi, avec ce mémoire, nous espérons améliorer les connaissances qui permettraient de rehausser la qualité des services éducatifs octroyés aux enfants québécois, mais en passant d’abord par l’amélioration de la qualité de vie au travail des éducatrices et des RSG.
