La complexité de la société québécoise représente un cadre particulièrement significatif pour aborder les questions du plurilinguisme et du pluriculturalisme dans le champ de l’éducation. \nEn 2002 l’Énoncé de politique éducative du Ministère ouvre son programme en déclarant : «Dans une société pluraliste comme la nôtre, l’école doit être un agent de cohésion : elle doit favoriser le sentiment d’appartenance à la collectivité, mais aussi l’apprentissage du vivre ensemble dans le respect des différences ». (Ministère de l’éducation 2002) \nDepuis longtemps, en effet, les différentes vagues d’immigration ont introduit dans la société québécoise un nouveau sujet capable de rompre la dichotomie entre francophones et anglophones : les allophones. \nC’est surtout à partir des années quatre-vingt que Marco Micone, écrivain québécois d’origine italienne et professeur d’italien, a livré, à coté de sa production littéraire, une série de réflexions sur la question du plurilinguisme. Pour lui, la salle de classe de son école, à majorité allophone, a toujours été un laboratoire où il constatait quotidiennement la nécessité du recours à la parole pour consentir l’expression identitaire. \nDans son autobiographie linguistique, où Micone décrit son parcours d’élève et le chemin qui lui a permis d’accéder à la parole identitaire et créative, il est question aussi d’appartenance et d’exclusion, d’apprentissage linguistique et de socialisation.
