Abstract
Hovedmålet for denne oppgaven er å se på musikken og spesielt musikkfaget i den færøyske folkeskolen. Læreplanene jeg jobber med er fra 1962-1993. Jeg skal belyse hvordan musikkfaget har sett ut og hvilke musikksyn som ligger bak, sett i lyset av Frede V. Nielsens fagkonsepsjoner og Øivind Varkøys teoretiske modell om heteronomiestetikk og autonomiestetikk. Begrunnelsen for å velge perioden 1962-1993 er at man i 1962 for første gang fikk en egen læreplan i den færøyske skolen og at den nyeste læreplanen er fra 1993. Utover læreplanene har jeg tenkt å undersøke hvorvidt man har lykkes med å implementere læreplanene, og hvordan musikkens plass i skolen både i og utenfor musikkfaget ser ut i 2011 gjennom intervjuer og samtaler.
