Seminaarityössä tutkittiin Viuluakatemian toimintaa vuosina 2009–2015, jolloin toiminta oli Suomen Kulttuurirahaston rahoittamaa. Tämä toteutettiin haastattelemalla Viuluakatemian perustajia, viulutaiteilijoita, viulumusiikin professori Elina Vähälää ja viulunsoiton lehtori Janne Malmivaaraa sekä kahdeksaa Viuluakatemiassa sen perustamisvuonna 2009 oppilaana aloittanutta nuorta. Vähälän ja Malmivaaran haastattelu toteutettiin puolistrukturoituna teemahaastatteluna ja oppilaiden haastattelu sähköpostihaastatteluna. \nKeskeisimpänä tuloksena haastatteluista nousi esiin Viuluakatemian merkitys oppilaiden kehitykselle. Haastatellut oppilaat katsoivat hyötyjen olleen moninaisia, ja useat kuvasivat Viuluakatemian olleen tärkein heidän saamansa koulutus muusikkona. Merkittävimmiksi hyödyiksi haastatellut näkivät lisäopetuksen saamisen, ja erityisesti sen saamisen useammalta eri henkilöltä. Tällöin oppilaat saavat myös keskenään ristiriitaisia ohjeita, mikä pakottaa oppilaan jo varhain kehittämään omaa ajatteluaan ja löytämään oman äänensä. Oppilaiden vastausten perusteella se oli haasteellista mutta kasvattavaa. Toinen keskeinen hyöty oli vertaistuki. Kaikki haastatellut oppilaat kehuivat oppilaiden välistä ryhmähenkeä erinomaiseksi. \n \nKirjallisuuskatsauksessa tarkasteltiin lahjakkuuksien etsimistä ja kouluttamista urheilun, koulumaailman ja musiikkielämän parissa tehtyjen tutkimusten valossa. Havaittiin, että löytämällä lahjakkuudet riittävän ajoissa, voidaan koulutuksessa hyödyntää herkkyyskausia, jolloin aikuisiän suorituskyky kyetään maksimoimaan. On hyväksi kehitykselle, jos oppilas saa tasoaan vastaavaa opetusta ja joutuu työskentelemään taitojensa ylärajoilla.
