Abstract
Viking Line työllistää merellä noin 1846 henkilöä, joista suurin osa kuuluu ulkomaanliikenteen matkustaja-alussopimuksen alaisuuteen. Merityön erityispiirteiden vuoksi ulkomaanliikenteen matkustaja-alussopimuksen 1:1 vuorottelujärjestelmän mukaan osa-aikatyöksi katsotaan ainoastaan 50% työaika ja vakituisen henkilöstön osa-aikatyö perustuu ainoastaan työntekijälähtöisiin, lain mukaisiin, tarpeisiin. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli laatia selkeä ohjekokonaisuus osa-aikatyön ehdoista Viking Linen merihenkilöstölle, jotka kuuluvat Suomen Merimies-Unionin neuvotteleman ulkomaanliikenteen matkustaja-alussopimuksen alaisuuteen. Tällä opinnäytetyöllä haluttiin koota yhteen ja helposti saataville vakituisen työntekijän osa-aikatyötä koskevat työehdot. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana on Suomen Merimies-Unioni. Teoriassa käytiin läpi opinnäytetyön tekemistä koskevat yksityiskohdat ja merityölainsäädäntöä, merenkulun osa-aikatyön muotoja sekä niistä johtuvia osa-aikatyön ehtoja. Tutkimus toteutettiin konstruktiivisella tutkimusotteella ja aineistonkeruussa käytettiin ensisijaisesti jo olemassa olevaa lähdeaineistoa ja sitä täydennettiin etnografista haastattelumenetelmää käyttäen asiantuntijoiden vastauksilla. Lopputuloksena saatiin kattava tietopaketti osa-aikaisuutta harkitsevalle työntekijälle, joka voi hyödyntää tämän opinnäytetyön tietoja oman tietoisuutensa lisäämisessä koskien osa-aika työtä ja osa-aikatyön ehtoja.
