Abstract
Our study aimed to describe a sports profile of climbers from Madrid by analyzing variables such as sports experience, competition and common injures. A uestionnaire was validated and subsequently applied to 347 climbers of Madrid Comunity. The main results show that three quarter of them were male, with an average of 10 years of experience but with only one year with planned training. Twenty-five percent of them participated in competitions. They practice sports an average of 15 hours a \nweek, with 70% of this time being done on weekends. Sixty-five percent of the participants have suffered at least one injury. In 49% of these cases, the injures were tendinitis, mostly in the fingers. The main conclusions reflect a climbers profile who are predominantly male, with many years of experience, many hours of practice per week, but who do not follow a formal training plan. These climbers do not compite regulary and have a high incidence of injury, typically fingers tendinitis.
