Abstract
Introdução: A sequência de Pierre Robin é uma anomalia congénita caracterizada pela presença de uma combinação de retrognatia/micrognatia e glossoptose, com ou sem fenda palatina, levando a OVA e dificuldades durante a alimentação. Uma intervenção rápida é necessária para reduzir o risco de danos cerebrais ou morte súbita. A maioria das opções de tratamento são mal estudadas ou invasivas. A PPT é um aparelho ortodôntico com uma extensão velar, que desloca a língua para uma posição mais anterior, alargando assim o espaço da hipofaringe e aliviando as OVAS. Objetivo: O objetivo desta revisão sistemática foi analisar a evidência científica quanto ao impacto da utilização da PPT na condição funcional e no prognóstico clínico de bebés com SPR. Material e Métodos: Segundo a estratégica PICOS, formulou-se uma questão e utilizando como orientação o PRISMA. Uma pesquisa bibliográfica foi realizada entre 2011 e 2021, na base de dados: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library e EBSCOhost. A qualidade metodológica de cada artigo foi avaliada independentemente através da escala de Newcastle-Ottawa. Resultados: Em comparação com o momento de admissão hospitalar, os artigos selecionados verificaram uma diminuição significativa do índice das apneias mistas e obstrutivas, acompanhada por uma diminuição da proporção de bebés que necessitam de alimentação por sonda nasogástrica, durante o tratamento com PPT. Não ocorreram acontecimentos adversos graves. Conclusão: Tratamento das OVAS e dos problemas de alimentação com PPT nas crianças com SPR sindrómica e isolada demonstrou ser eficaz e seguro.
