Abstract
Qu’est-ce que le territoire ? Et comment l’appréhender à partir des sciences sociales ? Ces questions s’avèrent centrales pour les chercheur(e)s s’intéressant aux processus de réappropriation du territoire entrepris par les peuples autochtones partout dans les Amériques. Cette présentation abordera le thème du territoire et de la territorialité autochtones à partir de la mise en perspective de deux projets de recherche : l’un réalisé au Chili, avec des familles mapuche-williche du territoire de Chodoy lof mapu, l’autre au Québec, avec des membres de la Première Nation ilnu de Mashteuiatsh. Elle mettra en évidence les défis épistémologiques, méthodologiques et éthiques de ces projets, en montrant comment ils ont amené l’auteure, d’une part, à pratiquer des méthodes de recherches collaboratives, d’autre part, à décentrer culturellement des concepts centraux dans sa discipline, la géographie.
