Ce 2ième manuel de formations Santé mentale et vieillissement présente un recueil de texte dédié à l'usage des personnes formatrices du Comité Vieillissement et Santé Mentale du collectif régional de défense des droits en santé mentale de Montréal, Action-Autonomie, autant qu'à un public intéressé à cette problématique, qui consiste en un croisement de deux sources de discrimination: l'âgisme et la psychophobie. Il ajoute au Vol.1: «Santé mentale et vieillissement une perspective critique», des exemples de pratiques communautraires ou institutionnelles de soins ou de services dédiées à des personnes âgées aux prises avec des difficultés reliées à la santé mentale. Certains textes présentent un témoignage personnel du vieillissement tel que vécu par l'autrice, d'autres rapportent des données de recherche mené sur le terrain ou une réflexion tirée de la littérature. Il pourra aussi intéresser un lectorat plus large formé de toute personne préoccupée par ce sujet que ce soit personnellement, à titre de proche ou en tant que personne étudiante ou professionnelle en santé ou en service social, etc. Il contient des données utiles pour l'animation des sessions de formation ou de sensibilisation sur l'accès des personnes âgées aux services de «santé mentale».
