L’évaluation des comportements alimentaires représente un aspect essentiel du traitement et de la prévention de l’obésité infantile. Il n’existe toutefois pas de questionnaire auto-rapporté permettant d’évaluer les comportements alimentaires à risque des enfants et adolescents québécois. L’objectif du projet de maîtrise présenté dans le cadre de ce mémoire était de traduire et valider la version française du Child Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (CTFEQ),mesurant les comportements alimentaires de restriction cognitive, de perte de contrôle alimentaire et d’alimentation émotionnelle, auprès d’enfants et adolescents québécois. Cent quarante-cinq participants de huit à quinze ans ont complété trois questionnaires dont le CTFEQ, un questionnaire sociodémographique ainsi qu’un questionnaire mesurant la présence de symptômes associés aux troubles du comportement alimentaire. La prise de mesures anthropométriques a également été effectuée et les participants ont complété un rappel alimentaire de 24 heures permettant d’évaluer les apports alimentaires et la qualité de l’alimentation. Le CTFEQ a été administré une seconde fois après deux à quatre semaines, afin d’en évaluer la reproductibilité. Les résultats de validation ont permis l’obtention d’un questionnaire possédant une structure factorielle, une cohérence interne ainsi qu’une reproductibilité adéquates. Une association positive a été observée entre la perte de contrôle alimentaire et l’alimentation émotionnelle. Ces deux comportements alimentaires ont été négativement associés à l’indice de masse corporelle des jeunes. La restriction cognitive a été positivement corrélée à la présence de symptômes associés aux troubles du comportement alimentaire, à la proportion de l’apport énergétique dérivé des protéines et à la qualité de l’alimentation. Ces résultats suggèrent que le CTFEQ est valide et pourra être utilisé auprès des enfants et adolescents québécois afin de mesurer les comportements alimentaires associés à la problématique d’obésité infantile.
