Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

A previously unreported lichen (Aberratus uittathallus sp. nov.) with peculiar characteristics is described. Its foliose growth form, cyanobiont, and homoiomerous, gelatin-rich medulla were most consistent with membership in the order Peltigerales, although it is not an obvious member of a known family. Its size (66 cm long) and off-white, ribbon-like thallus, which becomes shrunken, translucent, brittle, hydrophobic, light tan, and ostensibly dead when dried, are anomalous characteristics of lichens in general. No means of reproduction was identified, except possibly fragmentation. The organism’s anomalous characteristics, distribution on the type locality, and rarity were hypothesized to represent the results of a recent fortuitous lichenization.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
