El cultivo de la colza está muy extendido a nivel mundial. Los mayores productores de esta crucífera son Canadá, la Unión Europea y China. Sus usos son amplios y van desde su consumo como aceite para uso alimentario, como alimento de alta calidad para el ganado o la producción de lubricantes o biocarburantes que sustituyen a los de origen fósil. A nivel mundial, la colza es la tercera fuente de aceite vegetal, tras la soja y la palma. En España se cultiva la colza, y Castilla y León es la Comunidad Autónoma que lidera la producción. El 90% de La producción española de colza se exporta a la Unión Europea y el 68% de las oleaginosas que se cultivan en Europa son colza.

\nEn este trabajo se ha hecho una caracterización del cultivo de la colza en Valladolid a partir de datos climatológicos, edafológicos y orográficos principalmente, con la ayuda del programa ArcGIS. Se ha estimado la fecha de floración con la ayuda de índices de vegetación calculados a partir de imágenes Sentinel-2. También se ha hecho un estudio de la relación entre los rendimientos del cultivo y variables biofísicas obtenidas mediante teledetección. Se han estudiado las rotaciones de cultivo con colza a partir de datos de uso de suelo y se ha obtenido la rotación más frecuente. Además, se ha evaluado la posible implantación de la oleaginosa en otras áreas de Castilla y León en base a la caracterización realizada sobre Valladolid. Por último, se estiman los costes adicionales que supone la implantación de la colza como parte de la rotación con cereales.

\nSe ha estimado que la fecha de floración de la colza en Valladolid se encuentra entre el 16 y el 30 de abril. Existe una relación lineal directa entre las variables biofísicas estudiadas y el rendimiento. Las áreas de Castilla y León donde es posible la implantación de la colza se localizan en varios municipios de las provincias de Zamora, Salamanca, Ávila, Segovia, Palencia, Soria y León. El coste adicional de implantación de colza en una rotación con cereal asciende a 6.817,18 €. Cabe resaltar también que el uso de la colza está contemplado en los eco-esquemas de la Política Agraria Común (PAC) 2023-2027 como especie mejorante en las rotaciones en tierras de cultivo. El agricultor puede acogerse a los eco-esquemas 3 o 4 y percibir ayudas de entre 4.479,50 € si la parcela es considerada de secano y 10.284,60 € si entra en la categoría de secano húmedo.

\nEs por todo ello y gracias a la Convoca de ayudas para la realización de Trabajos fin de máster (TFM) para 2022 sobre Gestión de Riesgos y Seguros Agrarios, Ganaderos o Medioambientales que se ha motivado la realización de este TFM.

\nRapeseed is a widely spread crop worldwide having as leading producer Canada, followed by the European union and China. The application derived from this oleaginous crop vary from human consumption as oil for food use, to livestock high quality feed or even as an industrial lubricant or a biofuel that can replace those of fossil origin. At a global scale, canola is the third source of vegetal oil, right behind soy and palm oil. In Spain rapeseed is a common crop, especially in Castilla y León where the cultivated area of this cruciferous plant is the maximum in the country. 90% of Spanish rapeseed production is destined to exports towards the rest of the European Union, and 68% of oleaginous crops grown in Europe are rapeseed.

\nIn this thesis, a characterization of rapeseed crop in Valladolid has been performed on the basis of climatological, edaphological and orographic data; the program ArcGIS has been a useful tool for this characterization. The flowering date has been estimated from vegetation indices calculated from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. A study of the relationship between crop yields and biophysical variables obtained by remote sensing has also been performed. Rapeseed crop rotations have been analyzed from land use data and the most frequent rotation has been identified. In addition, the possible implantation of this oleaginous crop in other areas of Castilla y León has been evaluated based on the characterization carried out on Valladolid. Finally, the additional costs involved in planting rapeseed as part of a cereal rotation are estimated.

\nThe flowering date of rapeseed in Valladolid is predicted to occur between April 16th and 30th . There is a direct linear relationship between the biophysical variables studied and rapeseed yield. The areas of Castilla y León where the establishment of this oleaginous crop is possible are located in several municipalities of the provinces of Zamora, Salamanca, Ávila, Segovia, Palencia, Soria and León. The additional cost of planting rapeseed in a rotation with cereal amounts to €6.817,18. It should also be noted that the use of rapeseed in crop rotations is contemplated in the eco-schemes of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 as a soil-improving crop. The farmer can benefit from eco-schemes 3 or 4 and receive subsidies accounting for €4.479,50 if it is a rainfed plot and €10,284.60 if it categorized as wet dryland.
