Abstract
The "Columbian" was built American at Chester, Pennsylvania in 1892 but sold Candadian in 1893 and was rebuilt for the Richelieu & Ontario Nav. Co. and renamed "Brockville" (101254). After another rebuild in 1909 at Sorel she became the "Rapids Queen". Coming to Kingston after being built in 1892, she was in constant service running the rapids between Prescott and Montreal to about 1937, and ended her days of passenger service in 1939 when her upper decks were dismantled and the old pride of the St. Lawrence was converted into an oil carrier for a dredging company. She remained in service as "C. D. 110" for Canadian Dredge & Dock Co. until 1979 when purchased by Queen City Yacht Club of Toronto.
