Abstract
Suicide attempts have increased considerably in the last decades in people before 20 years of age, which constitutes a problem forPublic Health. In order to identify some psychosocial and epidemiological aspects related to suicidal behavior, an observational, descriptive investigation was carried out in adolescents from the Tunas municipality who presented a suicide attempt, in the period from January to December 2019 and who were hospitalized in the Psychiatry serviceof the Mártires de Las Tunas Provincial Pediatric Hospital. It was found that the age group between 15 and 18 years represented one sixth of adolescents with suicide attempts, the female sex represented one eighth ofadolescents with suicide attempt. One third of adolescents presented depression and more than 26% I plan the attempt. The pre-university school level represented a quarter of those who tried. Ingestion of tablets as a suicide method accounted for more than 90%. The most representative causes of suicide attempts were poor relationships with parents, financial problems, and relationship problems. Thus,evidencing the need to continue deepening this serious social problem.
