La monographie que nous présentons ici est la dernière d'une série de quatre études de cas réalisées dans le cadre des travaux du Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales dans l'économie sociale, les entreprises et les syndicats (CRISES). Elle vise à caractériser une entreprise d'économie sociale dans le secteur de l'insertion socioprofessionnelle. La méthodologie utilisée est qualitative et repose sur l'approche monographique. Les données ont été recueillies à l'aide du Guide de collecte et de catégorisation des données pour l'étude d'activités de l'économie sociale (Comeau, 1996) entre le mois de septembre 1996 et le mois de juin 1997. Le Resta Plateau est un restaurant populaire d'insertion socioprofessionnelle qui présente la particularité de répondre à une double mission sociale : contrer le processus d'exclusion des sans-emploi et combattre la faim et la pauvreté dans l'arrondissement Centre-Sud/Plateau Mont-Royal. Pour ce faire, l'organisme utilise une activité économique véritable, la restauration, qui lui permet de répondre à la fois à ses objectifs de formation sociale et professionnelle de publics en difficulté et à ceux plus large de lutte à la pauvreté, l'activité économique de restauration étant destinée à nourrir à prix modique les plus démunis du Grand Plateau.
