Abstract

ABSTRACT Atopic dermatitis affects about 15% of dogs of any breed and is defined as the inherited tendency to develop an abnormal immune response after repeated exposure to particular allergens (aerogens or food allergenes) which instead of being classified as harmless by the immune system, are fought over the top. Some of those with clinical signs attributable to atopic dermatitis also have a enteric symptoms due to a chronic inflammatory enteritis with episodes of loose stools, diarrhea, loose stools with mucus and food intolerances. We investigated two populations of subjects: one with prevalent skin problems associated with loose stools or diarrhea and one with problems prevalent type associated with gastrointestinal and dermatological problems. The aim was to verify similarities and clinical response to food trials to suggest a common etiology. For this study, 133 subjects were selected who had both symptoms, among many presented to a dermatologist or a visit gastroenterology at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital "Mario Modenato" S Piero a Grado, in the period of time between January 2010 and October 2012. Of these 133 cases, 51 had mainly dermatological problems mainly related to enteric and 82. The diagnosis of atopic dermatitis and chronic enteritis has been made after evaluation of anamnestic data, clinical signs and after the exclusion of the main differential diagnoses. The population of dogs in the study was compared with that of dogs received Teaching Hospital during the period under review. Among the dogs selected was a prevalence of males (67%) on the females (33%). The breeds most represented in our study group were the German Shepherd (14.29%), Boxer (9.77%), Labrador (6.77%) and Golden Retrievers (6.02%). Carefully assessing the lesion, we observed a close similarity in the prevalence of injuries among the group of 51 subjects dermatological and gastrointestinal 82. The lesions most frequently performed in 74 cases were erythema, pruritus in 54, conjunctivitis in 34, folliculitis / pyoderma and otitis external in 33 and 34 cases respectively. In most cases (46.62%) the age of onset was between 1 and 3 years. Of the 51 subjects dermatological 20 were subjected to a food trial and in 75% of cases, improvements were observed. Of the 82 subjects enteropatici 61 were subjected to a food trial and 84% of cases improvements were observed.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
