" La evolución de la economía postindustrial en la segunda mitad delsiglo XX provocó el declive de las infraestructuras portuarias tradicionalesde las ciudades costeras. En ciertos casos ello degeneró enverdaderos cánceres urbanos; en otros se optó por intervenir, mostrandoque si se actúa bien y a tiempo las descomposiciones urbanasno acaban necesariamente en gangrenas. Atendiendo al temadel número de Quórum, Cultura y desarrollo, el artículo estudiacómo Montreal, Ottawa y Toronto, partiendo de sus respectivasidiosincrasias culturales, han abordado la regeneración de sus riberascon criterios particulares pero igualmente instructivos considerandolos resultados obtenidos."
