Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the \nimpact in the Mexican firms if Mexico \ndecides to accomplish the next phase in a \nmajor integration processes, adopting a \nunited customs with USA and Canada, \n20 years from signing the North \nAmerican Free Trade Agreement \n(NAFTA), enforced in 1994, in the \nperiod when Mexico changed the \nsubstitution industrialization model for \nthe import substitution model, resulting \nof the globalization trend. The regional \nintegration processes phases is \nemphasized, analyzing if the Mexican \nfirms are prepared or not to accomplish a \nunited customs, forcing them to center \ntheir operations on competitive \nproductive processes and improving their \ninternal organization, as well as on \ninnovation and development.
