Esta Tesis Doctoral presenta algunas de las obras e investigaciones de Pierre Naville (1904-1993) en materia de Sociología. Apoyándose en ellas trata de problematizar críticamente el modo de formalización del objeto característico de la Sociología del Trabajo clásica y contemporánea. En la Primera Parte se aborda ésta desde una relectura de algunos de los autores, hitos y escuelas más destacados en los manuales al uso en nuestro país. Estos planteamientos son deconstruidos al hilo de los significados sociolo?gicos de la OCT, la automación, la cualificación y la terciarización del trabajo. En la Segunda Parte estos mismo problemas pasan a reconstruirse a partir las investigaciones de Pierre Naville, primero, para, después, desarrollarse algunos de los principios y modos de operacionalización de los que dicho autor se ha servido. La Tesis se cierra con un intento de exploración crítica de los avances conquistados recientemente por la Sociología del Empleo.
