Abstract
Le présent projet vise à déterminer l'impact du mercure sanguin sur la variabilité cardiaque (VC) chez des adultes du Nunavik en tenant compte des concentrations des oméga-3 et d'autres facteurs potentiellement confondants. Des échantillons sanguins ont été prélevés chez 280 adultes de 40 ans et plus et, des électrocardiogrammes ambulatoire de type Holter ont été enregistrés pendant 2 heures consécutives afin de calculer des indices de temps et de fréquence de la VC. En corrélation simple, le mercure n'a été associé faiblement qu'à la basse fréquence (LF) (r= -0.18; p= 0.02) et à la déviation standard des intervalles RR (SDNN) (r= -0.14; p= 0.047) mais ces associations sont devenues non significatives après le contrôle statistique des facteurs confondants (|3= -0.09, p= 0.35; p= -0.04, p= 0.37 respectivement). En conclusion, aucun effet du mercure sur la VC n'a pas été constaté dans cette population.
