RÉSUMÉ Cette recherche vise à aborder les enjeux de gestion faunique de l’orignal dans la région de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, plus spécifiquement sur le territoire traditionnel non-cédé (Anishnabe Aki) de la Nation Anishnabe de Lac Simon (ci-après NALS). Les conflits au coeur de la réserve faunique La Vérendrye (RFLV), lors des saisons de chasse à l'orignal 2019 et 2020, ont illustré des visions opposées de la gestion faunique entre les communautés anishnabek et le gouvernement du Québec. Cette dualité ressentie sur le terrain permet de comprendre davantage l'effet structurant du cadre législatif et politique provincial du Québec en matière de gestion faunique et de l'orignal (mos) sur la participation des Anishnabek dans la RFLV. De la perspective de la NALS, ce mémoire cherche à déterminer dans quelles mesures le régime de gestion de l’orignal du gouvernement du Québec et celui des Simo Sagainwininik (gens de Lac Simon) interagissent et coexistent. Il s’agit de faire état de comment les visions ontologiquement divergentes de ces deux régimes de gestion prennent vie sur le terrain. Cette recherche a été possible par la réalisation d’entrevues semi-dirigées auprès de dix membres de la NALS et l’analyse de documents scientifiques et gouvernementaux. Ces informations permettent de constater comment la législation provinciale structure la création d’espaces collaboratifs entre la NALS et le gouvernement du Québec quant à la gestion du mos et de l’Anishnabe Aki. Les analyses démontrent que 1) les deux systèmes coexistent sur le même territoire, mais ne cohabitent pas forcément; 2) il y a une différence ontologique profonde qui sépare les deux régimes de gestion de l’orignal et de la faune; 3) l’essence même du cadre juridique québécois incarne une ontologie naturaliste dans laquelle une vision pécuniaire de l’environnement centralise la prise de décision au niveau de la gestion du territoire et de ses ressources. ABSTRACT This research aims to address the challenges of moose management in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, specifically on the unceded traditional territory (Anishnabe Aki) of the Anishnabe Nation of Lake Simon (hereafter NALS). Conflicts at the heart of La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve (RFLV), during moose hunting seasons of 2019 and 2020, illustrated opposing views on wildlife management between the Anishnabek communities and the government of Quebec. This duality experienced on the ground provides relevant information to further understand the structuring effect of Quebec’s provincial legislative and political framework on moose management and the involvement of the Anishnabek people in the management of Anishnabe Aki. From the perspective of NALS, this thesis seeks to determine the extent to which the moose management regimes of the government of Quebec and the Simo Sagainiwninik (people of Lake Simon) interact and coexist. The goal is to describe how the ontologically divergent visions of these two management regimes come to life on the ground. Data were collected by conducting ten semi-structured interviews with Simo Sagainiwininik and analyzing government documents. Results reveal the structuring effect of provincial legislation on the creation of collaborative spaces between NALS and the government of Quebec regarding mos and Anishnabe Aki. The analyses demonstrate that 1) the two systems coexist on the same territory but do not necessarily cohabit; 2) there is a profound ontological difference that separates the two moose and wildlife management regimes; 3) the very essence of the Quebec legal framework embodies a naturalistic ontology in which a pecuniary vision of the environment centralizes decision-making at the level of territorial and resources management.
