Il contributo affronta, attraverso l'elaborazione delle fonti iconografiche dei secoli XVII e XIX, l'evoluzione delle condizioni morfologiche e funzionali che hanno interessato il Giardino Scotto, quale spazio urbano interno della Fortezza Nuova della città di Pisa.
