Immunizing UK HIV positive adults against Influenza: delivering services that reflect patient choice

Abstract
Objectives: To identify services used by HIV positive adults to obtain influenza immunisation and reasons for this. \nMethods: UK ambulatory HIV centre survey. \nResults: 70% of 253 adults were immunised: 51% in primary care, 26% via HIV services, and the remainder in pharmacies /elsewhere. Immunisation was more likely in patients consenting to share data between primary and secondary care. One fifth of patients were not prepared to do this, and one quarter did not want to be immunised in primary care. \nConclusions: Improved uptake of influenza immunisation must account for patient choice including data sharing between primary and secondary care, and site of immunisation.
