Abstract
This work try to emphasize the importance of the renovation of the LPS - particularly in Europe and the role they have carried out in the last quarter of century in a context of deep productive, technological, commercial and financial changes. After introducing an outline of the LPS concept that is used in the work, in the first part the author presents the main transformations derived from the Fordist crisis and analyses the evolution of the SPL from the crisis of the traditional regions. Then, he emphasizes some of LPS more representative modalities, putting particular emphasis in the technological factor to emphasize the role played by knowledge and innovation in regional and local dynamics.
