Abstract
Dr. Jessie Gao is a Research Scientist for the Canadian Index of Wellbeing. She is in charge of updating and maintaining the CIW's data repository, preparing various CIW wellbeing reports and publishing academic articles. Her research interests focus on leisure/travel as resources to promote wellbeing at individual and community levels. Dr. Bryan Smale is the director of the Canadian Index of Wellbeing and Professor in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on the wellbeing of individuals and communities, leisure and wellbeing, the spatial distribution and analysis of leisure in communities, etc.
