Abstract
The essay focuses on the manuscript Mscr.Dresd.Ob.25, preserved in the Dresden Sächsische Landesbibliothek ‒ Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek. This manuscript is a copy of Dante’s Commedia, which was written in the last quarter of the 14th century. The characteristics of the Commedia of Dresden, analyzed under three main perspectives, paleographical, structural and textual, lead us to describe it as an object for personal use, as a private artefact, written by a copyist with little graphic expertise but with a certain knowledge of the best known commentaries of the Commedia and of other texts. The use of the Machine Imaging System has provided the opportunity to read parts of the manuscript no longer visible to the naked eye and to start more in-depth research on textual and linguistic topics.
