Abstract
La gentrificación alude a los procesos de transformación de un área de clase trabajadora de la ciudad en una zona de clase media, para su uso residencial o comercial. Tiene lugar en áreas urbanas en las que una desinversión previa en infraestructuras ha generado vecindarios cuya renovación puede resultar muy lucrativa. La gentrificación puede crear como consecuencia destinos `` turistificados ́ ́ \ny la mutación del comercio de proximidad como motores para transformar el paisaje urbano. En Lanzarote, observamos como este fenómeno se produce en Arrecife Centro, en concreto, en la zona del Charco de San Ginés, con la nueva planificación urbanística, las zonas comerciales abiertas, la proliferación de viviendas vacacionales, en su mayoría ilegales, y el impulso del potencial cultural, comercial y turístico de la ciudad a través de varias acciones dinamizadoras.
