After the successive confiscations of the 19th century, many of the parishes in the Community of Calatayud had the need to dispose of all kinds of movable property to undertake maintenance and restoration works on the old buildings. This economic necessity caused that, since the last quarter of the 19th century, antique dealers and collectors set their eyes on this heritage, especially medieval, which in many cases was out of use. \nThis is the story of the sale of the altarpiece that presided over a small chuch in Fuentes de Jiloca, a town in Zaragoza. The story of a sale that lasted over 50 years and that when it became effective caused the loss not only of the work
