Les budgets de santé de santé au Québec s’accroissent très rapidement et des nouvelles approches devront être initiées rapidement. Ainsi, bien que les budgets de santé demeureront élevés et en croissance dans l’avenir, plusieurs choix ont déjà été faits et de nouvelles approches ont commencé a être mises en place : accent sur la prévention, impliquer le privé dans l’hébergement des clientèles, développer au maximum le maintien des clientèles dans leurs milieux de vie / leurs résidences, approche populationnelle, approches intégrées / globalisantes (Villes et villages en santé, développement local intégré, approche qualité de vie, approche de développement durable). Il est probable de supposer qu’à l’avenir la tendance sera à l’effet que les services intermédiaires prendront dorénavant de plus en plus de place dans l’offre globale de services de santé.
