Dans le Québec du dernier quart du XIXe siècle, le journal L'Electeur de Québec, organe officiel du Parti libéral du Québec ainsi que du Parti libéral du Canada, entre 1880 et 1896, exprime des opinions politiques découlant de l'idéologie libérale et est destiné lors de sa fondation à faire office de porte-parole des libéraux modérés dirigés par Wilfrid Laurier, au niveau fédéral, et par Honoré Mercier, pour la majeure partie de la période, au niveau provincial. Pourtant, L'Electeur est condamné par le clergé du Québec à ne plus être publié en 1896 suite à des propos jugés trop radicaux par les évêques de la province, mettant ainsi fin à son existence. Ce mémoire vise à approfondir le libéralisme du journal L'Électeur dans ses aspects idéologiques, politiques, économiques et sociaux afin de déterminer si cette publication s'inscrit dans le courant modéré ou radical du libéralisme.
