Cette étude analyse le travail de construction par les médias canadiens francophones de l’épidémie de Covid-19 qui a touché le Bel Paese au mois de mars 2020. Si cet intérêt pour les affects des Canadiens envers l’Italie relève d’une logique socio-historique et d’un remarquable sentiment d’italianité caractérisant depuis toujours la population canadienne, le cas de l’épidémie de Covid-19 permet d’étudier l’évolution de la médiatisation des réactions ordinaires à cette tragédie, dessinant le portrait d’un «peuple-émotion» qui a su partager la terreur, l’inquiétude et le drame d’un pays qui a véritablement été dans le besoin.
