Abstract
Thyroid hormones (T 3 and T 4 ) are key to human development and metabolism regulation.Their production is controlled by brain hormones via a feedback control loop.In circulation, thyroid hormones are either free or bound to several plasma transporters which help stabilize their concentration.We develop a 9-dimensional differential equation model taking into account both the production and the binding and unbinding of thyroid hormones.We also introduce two simplified models: a 3-dimensional equation in which the binding is not modeled, and a 5-dimensional equation in which only binding to the main plasma transporter is modeled.
