Abstract
A 19-month-old boy, Gerald Wayne Ross of 1540 South Third, died Sundar morning of pneumonia Uftet fit )'>d'Mr'Chewed SV rats while he, dipt.His mother, 27-year-old Mrs. Marie Ross, was taken into custody by police and charged with invol untary manslaughter.Officers said the mother charged because neglect of the child contributed to his death.Six other Ross children were placed in protective custody at juvenile 'court.The hueband and father, George Ross 8r" 80, Is stationed with the air force tn Spain.Mrs. Rosa found the child dead when she got up to feed her fourmonth-old daughter.Neighbors complained the children did not have proper clothing or food and often were left in the house without heat.Mrs. Ross receives $100 a month from her husband and lives in a house owned by her father.She said she didn't have enough money to pay for utilities and that she didn't take Gerald to the hos pital for medical care because couldn't pay for a clinic card.she Centenary Sending Clothing To DeltaMembers of Centenary Methodist Church, Mississippi Blvd, at Alston, have adopted as their Chistmas pro.ject a campaign to collect food and clothing for needy persons in the Delta area of Mississippi.Gifts of clothing, blankets, shoes
