Abstract
Sumario: El nuevo entorno regulador y de supervisión de la actividad aseguradora en la Unión Europea, comúnmente llamado Solvencia II, empezó a entrar finalmente en vigor en enero de 2016, si bien han quedado establecidos ciertos periodos transitorios para distintos aspectos de esa normativa, adaptados también a la situación de distintos países. El origen de estos transcendentales cambios en la normativa europea habría que situarlo en el informe Müller (1997) sobre las posibles mejoras a los requisitos de solvencia exigibles en la actividad aseguradora y el informe Sharma que analizaba los sistemas de supervisión de la misma.
