Milos Ciganovic e Giuseppe Ragusa richiamano l’attenzione sulla divergenza senza precedenti tra i modelli di nowcasting delle diverse Federal Reserve. Atlanta prevede -2,2% per il PIL nel I trimestre 2025, New York +2,6%. La discrepanza è dovuta soprattutto all’impennata delle importazioni d'oro, che Atlanta interpreta meccanicamente come produzione domestica spiazzata. L'episodio mostra, come disse Samuelson che la vera "superiorità" non risiede nell'utilizzo passivo del modello, ma nell'intelligenza economica che ne informa l'interpretazione.
