Abstract
The "Bryn Barge" was built by the Chicago Ship Building Company in 1900 as "Bryn Mawr." She was steel-hulled and was of 4294 gross ton. Owned by the Pittsburgh Steamship Company of Cleveland, Ohio for the first 40 years, she was sold to Upper Lakes and St. Lawrence Transportation Company of Toronto in 1940. At that time, her name was changed to "Bryn Barge." Her Canadian registration was 172359. In 1983, she was used as the foundation for breakwater at the Ontario Hydro Coal Dock near Toronto, Ontario.
