Ce travail présente une analyse non-linéaire du comportement d'une poutre de bois en flexion simple, renforcée avec fibre de verre. Au cours du développement, nous avons étudié de nouveau les essais réalisés par Simon Lacroix et Pascal Racine en 2000 et 2002 à l'Université de Sherbrooke. Le premier but de ce travail était de ratifier ou rectifier les conclusions auxquelles ils sont arrivés. Le deuxième but était de développer un outil plus précis que celui utilisé par eux pour modéliser le comportement d'une poutre de bois en flexion simple. Pour ce faire, nous avons utilisé leurs travaux comme point de départ. Nous avons aussi réalisé certains essais afin d'apporter un complément d'information nécessaire. Par la suite nous avons développé trois modèles, le modèle bilinéaire, le modèle nonlinéaire défini par une courbe polynomiale et le modèle non-linéaire défini par une courbe linéarisée par segments. Nous avons aussi identifié une relation entre le module en tension et le module en compression comme paramètre de comportement du bois. Aussi, nous avons caractérisé le comportement d'un noeud et d'une section en flexion avec noeud. Notre travail a confirmé et renforcé les conclusions de Lacroix et Racine sur les gains de résistance ainsi que sur le phénomène de pontage des défauts dans le bois. Certaines statistiques de résistance ont pu être reformulées.
