Nous analysons le poids des représentations sociales qui associent la sodomie à une pratique exclusivement homosexuelle, et qui, au même temps, véhicule l'idée que la puissance et l'identité sexuelle masculine ne se mesurent pas de la même façon selon que l'on soit actif (pénétrant donc "l'homme") ou passif (pénétré donc "la femme") dans le rapport sexuel. Cette culture d'une domination masculine pousse certains jeunes hommes à utiliser la présence d'une femme comme un paravent symbolique, afin de pouvoir vivre des relations sexuelles avec un autre homme sans mettre en doute l'hétérosexualité de chacun d'entre eux. Parallèlement, à cet usage particulier de la femme, quelques hommes mariés, en panne de fantasme et de désir envers leur conjointe confirment que leur mariage a pu être également une protection symbolique de leur hétérosexualité incertaine
