L'objectif de l'étude est d'évaluer la dose absorbée de pyrène, indicateur de la présence des hydrocarbures aromatiques polycycliques (HAP), par la population vivant au pourtour d'une aluminerie en. Montérégie (Québec, Canada) en utilisant un marqueur biologique, le 1-hydroxypyrène (1-OHP). Au total, 78 sujets exposés ont été comparés à 40 non exposés. La moyenne géométrique chez les exposés est de 0.073 µmol/mol créatinine alors que celle des non exposés est de 0.060 µmol/mol créatinine, ce qui n'est pas statistiquement différent (p = 0.09). La distribution des moyennes selon les trois strates d'exposition ne révèle pas non plus de différence statistiquement significative (p = 0.13), les moyennes géométriques étant respectivement de 0.079, 0.067 et 0.060 µmol/mol créatinine pour les individus fortement, faiblement et non exposés. Après ajustement pour les autres sources d'exposition aux HAP (alimentation, chauffage au bois, tabagisme passif) et pour le temps passé au domicile dans les trois jours précédant la collecte, les moyennes demeurent presque inchangées par rapport aux moyennes brutes citées ci-haut."--Résumé abrégé par UMI
