Abstract
Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tarkastella nuorten leskiäitien perhearkea ja hyvinvointia. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin selvittämään, miten leskiäidit kertovat leskeytymisprosessistaan sekä perhearjesta ja hyvinvoinnista sen osana. Tutkimus toteutettiin yhteistyössä Suomen nuoret lesket ry:n kanssa. Tutkimusaineistona olivat 19 leskiäidin kirjoitelmat, joissa he pohtivat omia kokemuksiaan ja ajatuksiaan perheensä arjesta ja hyvinvoinnista. Aineiston analyysissä hyödynnettiin narratiivisia menetelmiä. Tutkimuksen tulokset jakautuvat kahteen osioon: narratiiviseen tarinatyyppiluokitteluun ja leskiäitien tarinoiden sisällöllisten teemojen tarkasteluun. Leskiäitien kirjoitelmista oli löydettävissä viisi tarinatyyppiä, jotka erosivat tosistaan kerronnallisesti. Tarinatyypit olivat surun keskellä kertojat, identiteetin etsinnästä kertojat, suruun sopeutumisesta kertojat, toipumisesta kertojat ja suuresta vastuusta kertojat. Kaikissa tarinatyypeissä toistui kolme teemaa: suuren surun merkitys leskien elämälle, yksin ja ilman lasten isää selviytyminen perhearjessa sekä hyvinvointia edistävien asioiden moniulotteisuus. Suomalaisia tutkimuksia leskiperheiden perhearjesta ei juuri ole. Näin ollen tämä tutkimus tuottaa aiheesta uutta tietoa, jota leskiperheiden parissa työskentelevät voivat hyödyntää. Puolison menetys etenkin nuorella iällä ja isän puuttuminen perhearjesta on suuri muutos, joka vaikuttaa koko perheeseen ja moniin elämän osa-alueisiin. Vaikka surun kokeminen ja siitä selviytyminen sisältävät monia yksilöllisiä piirteitä, arjen sujuvuus, tasapaino perhearjen toiminnoissa sekä hyvät perhesuhteet ovat merkittäviä tekijöitä leskien hyvinvoinnille.
